Amy and Nick at the Dorms
Nick and Amy met at SMU in 2005, where they were both music majors studying (and practicing) to become professional musicians. Some of Amy's friends already had their eye on Nick, since he was so tall, dark, and handsome, but he seemed not to notice. He was focused on his music and his video editing hobbies. Amy and Nick hung out with the same group of friends, and they grew closer toward the end of the school year. They began dating at a small party at the beginning of the summer. A group trip to Chicago cemented their relationship, and they have been together ever since.
Amy's Eastman Graduation
When Nick finally decided to pop the question, he worried about how to do it in a way that Amy wouldn't expect. They had already discussed the possibility of a future together, and Amy was about to finish grad school, so he knew she would be expecting something soon. In May 2011, Amy was getting ready to move from Rochester, NY, back to Fairview, TX, and her parents and Nick made plans to join her and help her move. But then, two weeks before they were due to arrive, Nick showed up unexpectedly at her doorstep and asked her to marry him! She was happily surprised, and said yes, of course!
